The Great Houses of Westeros are mainly seven families that rule different regions of the seven kingdoms
- House Arryn, rule The Vale
- House Baratheon, rule The Storm Lands
- House Lannister, rule The Westerlands
- House Martell, rule Dorne
- House Stark, rule The North
- House Targaryen, ruled The Crownlands from the capital, King's Landing, until a rebellion led by Robert Baratheon
- House Tully, rule The Riverlands
- House Tyrell, rule The Reach
There are many minor houses throughout Westeros, but the show mainly focuses on the major houses. The minor house are the bannerman of the major houses in each region.
